From August 18 to 31, 2025, the Ministry of Vocational Training, Crafts and Professions of Mauritania is launching a major initiative:

Project for the Creation of an Encyclopedia for the Promotion and Valorization of Traditional Handicrafts in Mauritania

This project aims to:

• Establish a participatory inventory of intangible cultural heritage linked to traditional crafts.
• Cover all regions of the country to ensure that no craft or artisan is left behind.
• Safeguard and highlight the richness of Mauritania’s traditional know-how for future generations.

This initiative represents an important step toward preserving cultural identity while supporting artisans across the nation.
